The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) yesterday revealed data showing various crime statistics throughout the province were down in the first two months of 2018.
NOPPO director, Police Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, Jr., noted there were 185 recorded incidents of index crime, which include murder, homicide, physical injury and rape, and crimes against property. The figure is a 64.62 percent drop from the 366 recorded in the same period last year.
In terms of non-index crimes which include child abuse, illegal drugs, illegal firearms, traffic offenses, among others, the figure decreased by 71.39 percent as compared to last year.
Castil credited the drop to NOPPO’s campaign against criminality through weekly enhanced managing police operations, intensified police patrol and police visibility, and the recent return to the anti-illegal drugs campaign./DGB, WDJ
