Housing officers from across the Negros Occidental third congressional district recently met with officials from the National Housing Authority (NHA) to discuss resettlement site projects intended for informal settler families.

Acting NHA-Bacolod Principal Engineer Liezl Miquit discussed programs offered by the agency, including the Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP) and the District Housing Program.

During an earlier meeting at the NHA-Bacolod office, Housing Officer Primilo Solinap said Victorias City plans to use RAP in three phases for the development of a 10-hectare property.

According to Miquit, local government units to acquire RAP up to three times.

Solinap noted the city would utilize a total P72 million, splitting it into three separate P24 million allocations between 2019, 2020 and 2021.

In addition, Talisay City proposed similar plans for 2020 and 2021; while EB Magalona and Murcia are each proposing P12 million apportionments for 2020 and 2021.

RAP can be used to fund surveys, detailed engineering and architectural plans, the concreting of roads, and the construction of drainage and septic tanks or vaults.

Meanwhile, Engr. Alejandro Ongsuco, also of NHA-Bacolod, discussed the District Housing Program, which can be used for cost-recoverable land acquisition, land development, or housing construction./WDJ
