Lopue’s-USLS wins at WVPRISAA

The Lopue’s-University of St. La Salle (USLS) table tennis teams won the tertiary events at the 2018 Western Visayas Private Schools Athletic Association (WVPRISAA) meet, which closed last week in Iloilo.

The men’s team, comprised of John Paul Gubaton, John Michael Castro, James Saligumba, Cris Lester Rejon, and Joemar Junio, beat Iloilo, 3-0, to take the championship.

On the ladies’ side, Jhayren Rose Villanueva, Kimberly Faith Trasporto, Stephanie Shyne Villanueva, and Catherine Samson defeated Central Philippine University, 3-2, to win their respective title.

Both teams will represent Negros Occidental at the upcoming National PRISAA, scheduled to take place in Bohol.

Meanwhile, at the 2018 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) meet, which also took place last month in Iloilo City, both the secondary boys’ team of Niel John Lauren, Matthew Tolentino, Elmer Locsin, and George Saligumba, along with the secondary girls’ team of Micah Tanate, Gems Gellang, Stephanie Reign Villanueva, and Kylie Sophia Villanueva, came in second place and took home silver medals.

In addition, Lauren won bronze in the boys’ singles event, while Tanate won the gold in girls’ singles./PLL, WDJ
