Two suspected members of the “Akyat Bahay” gang were arrested on Sunday after they victimized a home owned by a teacher at the Margarita Village in Barangay 2, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
Police identified the victim as 60-year-old Maria Lota.
Based on reports by San Carlos City police, the suspects, identified as Michael Lawa and Joebert Estemada, allegedly broke into Lota’s house by destroying a door located in the victim’s kitchen.
Police, however, were quickly informed of the incident and responded immediately, resulting in the suspects’ arrest.
Police recovered a flat screen TV, a subwoofer, and DVD player which were stolen from Lota’s house, as well as five sachets of suspected shabu.
Lawa and Estemada face robbery and illegal drugs charges and are presently detained at the San Carlos City Police Station./DGB, WDJ
