Currently tied on points atop Group F with Singapore’s Home United FC in the ongoing 2018 AFC Cup, Ceres-Negros FC’s match tonight against Shan United FC of Myanmar could make a difference in the standings.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Panaad Park and Stadium.

The clubs previously met in the Champions League qualifying play-offs earlier this year, with the Negrense club winning on penalties.

Ceres midfielder Mike Ott said they hope to keep their undefeated home record intact, noting the club loves playing at the Panaad.

For Shan United goalkeeper Thiha Sithu, he is expecting a challenge.

“It will be tough,” he said.

In their previous meeting, the clubs were at a 0-0 deadlock at the end of regulation time and, despite a goal from Ceres midfielder Stephan Schröck in the 93rd minute, Shan United forward Patrick Asare scored the equalizer six minutes later.

With the match depending on penalty kicks, Shan United striker Christopher Chizoba and defender William Nyakwe both missed their attempts./JSG, WDJ
