Iloilo City BFP kicks off month-long observance
The Iloilo City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) kicked off their Fire Prevention Month observance yesterday, where around 400 personnel gathered at the BFP-Region VI grounds.
Among the events planned for the month of March include a color run, conducting the Berong Bombero sa Paaralan Fire Safety Awareness Campaign, training courses for volunteer brigades and barangay disaster control teams, an open house of BFP stations, fire prevention games and contests, among other activities.
Today, March 2, there will be a five-minute blowing of horns of all firefighting apparatus
Events close with all BFP stations holding ceremonies on March 25.
Office of Civil Defense-Region VI Director Jose Roberto Nuñez emphasized the importance of the observance, both for honoring firefighters and empowering the community.
“Let’s reflect [on] the heroism that is within us and be the light to your respective community members,” he said. “Let’s all build a safe environment for a sustainable development.”
“The BFP has been a long-term partner in creating resilient community,” Nuñez added./WDJ
