Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, yesterday, revealed the details of his meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte, who made a surprise visit last week in the province.
According to Lacson, no local politics were discussed during the dinner meeting, which was hosted by the Yanson family, owners of Vallacar Transit, Inc., the parent company of Ceres Bus Liner.
Lacson, however, said he asked the president if the 2019 elections would take place, with Duterte replying, if Congress pushed “the plan,” he would resign from office.
The vice governor added, other topics discussed were mostly business concerns and the president’s campaign against illegal drugs.
Duterte visited the province last week after attending the wake of slain overseas Filipino worker Joanna Demafelis in Sara, Iloilo.
After the dinner, the president left for Davao City./DGB, WDJ
