The repair and improvement of a 600 meter stretch of provincial road in Barangay Cabacungan, La Castellana started with a groundbreaking yesterday.
La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan said funds for the project, amounting to P6 million, came from the provincial government.
She stressed, the repair and improvement of the road is vital to economic activity as the road serves as the link between Negros Oriental, through Canlaon City, to Negros Occidental localities like Moises Padilla, Isabela, and La Castellana.
The mayor further noted, the road has to be improved and repaired considering several tourist destinations are located in Barangay Cabacungan, including the Caduhada Spring Resort and the Baji Baji Spring Resort.
She added, Barangay Cabacungan is where one can get a clear view of Mt. Kanlaon.
Meanwhile, the mayor also led the opening of an access road, which she said would serve 200 families./DGB, WDJ
