Ceres-Negros FC and 2017 World Cadet Taekwondo Championships gold medalist Mary Angeline Alcantara were recognized at the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Awards, which took place last Tuesday at the Manila Hotel.
Alcantara won the Antonio Siddayao Award, which is given to promising young athletes.
“May this award serve as an inspiration to all of our athletes to strive hard and to work hard for their dreams,” she said in her acceptance speech. “Nothing is impossible if you just believe and not to lose hope.”
She also expressed gratitude to Master Sung Chon Hong of the Philippine Taekwondo Association (PTA), PTA Program Director Igor Mella, personal coach Vic Feria, and her parents.
Meanwhile, Ceres-Negros FC Competition Administrator Warren Concepcion accepted the PSA Citation on behalf of the club. The football club was recognized for winning the first Filipino professional football league and capturing the AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal championship./JSG, WDJ
