Two dead in separate Negros Occidental drowning incidents

Two people are confirmed dead following two separate drowning incidents in Victorias City and La Castellana, Negros Occidental, Monday.

Police identified the fatalities as 36-year-old Judel Javellana, a resident of Sitio Cansilayan, Barangay 11, Victorias City; and 10-year-old John Andrei Castillo, a resident of Barangay Robles, La Castellana, Negros Occidental.

According to Victorias City police, Javellana’s remains were found lying face down on the rocks of the Kinaruyan Gamay Creek.

Police are presently conducting a post-mortem examination of Javellana’s remains.

Meanwhile, in La Castellana, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Unit initially received a call saying a minor drowned in the Baksay River in Barangay Robles.

Police and rescue workers immediately responded and rushed Castillo to the town’s rural health clinic, where he was declared dead on arrival by medical staff./DGB, WDJ
