The Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative (Noreco II) recently revealed they were provided a 3.2 percent discount from power supplier Green Core Geothermal, Inc. (GCGI) for paying their bills to the power company on time.
The discount, which applied to the generation charge, was effective as of the January 2018 bill.
Noreco II is based in Dumaguete City.
Meanwhile, Bacolod City’s Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco) earlier warned consumers of increasing rates, following the announcement of an 8¢ per kilowatt-hour (kWh) increase in the residential rate between December 2017 and January 2018.
Ceneco General Manager Sulpicio Lagarde anticipated hikes attributed to the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law and informed consumers a 7¢/kWh increase is expected due to excise taxes on coal, along with forecasting generation charge increases in April./PLL, WDJ
