The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) mass communication department will be hosting a conference seeking to promote the media profession, beginning today, February 27, and set to run until Thursday, March 1.
Events open with a keynote address by UNO-R alumni Marie June Pavillar-Castro, who serves as district coordinator on housing concerns for Negros Occidental third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez.
That afternoon, “Hinun-anon” will take place, a talk show that will feature a variety of local media personalities. Among the expected guests include DYRL news anchor Teresa Ellera, San Miguel Brewery, Inc. business affairs and communication officer Antonietta Beboso- Lopez, former DYEZ station manager Connie Po, former DYEZ disc jockey Beth ‘Cristy Love’ Gaston Puey, Sunstar Bacolod reporter Carla Cañet, University of St. La Salle communication department head Hannah Mariveles, STI-West Negros University career advisor and media relations officer Ritzy Robles Malooy, and Negros Occidental Governor’s Office media relations assistant Eric Loretizo.
Yasmin Pascual Dormido of ABS-CBN 4 will serve as host.
The following day, a forum will be held in the President’s Hall at 7:30 a.m. Among those expected to feature at the event include journalist and documentary film maker Julius Mariveles, Bombo Radyo Bacolod reporter and anchor Jaz de Jesus-Madrigal, SM City Bacolod public relations manager May Castro, and I-FM station manager Serafin Plotria, Jr.
The day will also include a community broadcasting and photo journalism competition.
Participants will close the event on Thursday with a cultural tour./WDJ
