P8.4M worth of crop damage attributed to recent storm

According to Provincial Agriculturist, Atty. Japhet Masculino, an estimated P8.4 million worth of crops were lost in Negros Occidental due to Tropical Storm Basyang, which struck the province earlier this month.

He noted, San Carlos City reported the most losses, with an estimated P1,890,300 lost in rice crops and P401,250 in “high-value crops.”

The provincial official noted other locales reporting losses include Bago City, Cadiz City, La Carlota City, EB Magalona, and Moises Padilla.

Masculino added, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist is still conducting field assessments./DGB, WDJ
