Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III recently issued a memorandum calling for current barangay captains and officials to conduct an inventory of all barangay property and documents, along with financial records and liabilities.
He explained the information gathered is part of preparations for the upcoming May 14 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.
“The memorandum circular will enable our incumbent barangay officials to prepare the necessary documents, records, reports, finances, and properties that were issued, including their inventory from the start of their terms up to the present, to sustain transparent and accountable local governance at the barangay level,” the mayor said.
He added, the inventory guarantees all government property is taken care of and properly maintained by barangay officials.
Espinosa encouraged barangay captains to form a Barangay Inventory Team to handle the process./WDJ
