Negros Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson requested officials of the Department of Education (DepEd) in the province to investigate the brawl that took place during the secondary boys’ football championship match between Negros Occidental and Iloilo at the ongoing 2018 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) meet in Iloilo City.

Lacson said he is hopeful DepEd will come up with their own version of events and update the provincial government regarding the incident.

He said a lot of stories have been coming out across social media, which has created conflict among social media users in Iloilo and Negros Occidental.

The vice governor admitted to learning about the incident via text message and indicated he is now seeking raw information.

Lacson said, while he was “saddened” to hear about the incident, he offered his congratulations to the participants representing the province in the WVRAA meet, thanking them for carrying the banner and bringing home honor./DGB, WDJ
