Negros Occidental medals in arnis

Negros Occidental recently picked up several medals in the arnis events of the ongoing 2018 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) meet at the Iloilo Sports Complex.
The gold medal winners were in the single weapon competitions, including Christian James Magbanua in the elementary boys’ division, Juliana Marie Oberes in the elementary girls’ division, and Jhouanalou Micoyco in the secondary girls’ division.
Magbanua, meanwhile, also won silver in the individual sword and dagger event, while Oberes earned silver in the individual double weapon event.
Among other Negrense medalists include John Michael Escleto, who took bronze in the individual double weapon and individual sword and dagger events.
Capiz athletes also took home gold medals, including Princess Kim Cereneo in the elementary girls’ individual double weapon event, Fritz Den Marc Bartanico in the secondary boys’ individual sword and dagger event, and Jessie Mae Beso in the individual double weapon event.
Bartanico and Beso also won additional medals; the former took silver in the single weapon event and the latter won bronze in the individual single weapon competition.
In addition, Adrian Arca of Aklan won gold in both the secondary boys’ individual double weapon and individual single weapon events, while taking bronze in the individual sword and dagger event.
John Lorenz Armenio, also from Aklan, won the elementary boys’ double weapon event and silver in the individual single weapon competition./JSG, WDJ
