A 25-year-old man was declared dead after he was stabbed by a still-unidentified suspect in Barangay Mansalanao, La Castellana, Negros Occidental, late Tuesday evening.

Police identified the fatality as Vemar Bernabe, a resident of Barangay Cabagnaan in the said town.

Based on a statement provided to police by Bernabe’s father, Vicente, around 11:00 p.m., Vemar was assaulted by an unknown suspect, stabbing him in the right side of his chest.

The suspect immediately fled, while the victim was rushed to a nearby district hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival by hospital staff.

La Castellana police are still investigating a motive behind the incident, as well as the suspect’s identity./DGB, WDJ
