The suspect in the mauling of Ranilo Azue, a local media personality, recently surfaced and denied the allegations regarding the attack.
According to the suspect, Niño Alcala, Azue instigated the matter after throwing a punch. He went on to deny kicking the victim.
Alcala also questioned Azue’s motives for bringing the matter up on his radio program, which airs on MUEWS Radio 104.7 FM Negros.
“Just because you lost in a fistfight, you will start your drama by sensationalizing it at the local radio station?” he asked. “It is unfair for us private individuals.”
Alcala went on to claim the radio station was operating without a business permit.
The suspect added, he welcomed Azue’s plan to file charges against him.
Meanwhile, Azue told Watchmen Daily Journal yesterday that Alcala’s claims are “all lies,” adding he did not ask for anybody’s sympathy nor does he plan to sensationalize what happened to him.
Last Friday, after concluding his broadcast, Azue was allegedly mauled by Alcala outside the radio station located at Bangga Vaflor in Barangay Zone 1, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Azue sustained several wounds across different parts of his body and was later brought to the hospital for treatment.
Various groups in Negros Occidental have since condemned the incident./DGB, WDJ
