Following a P44 million contribution, the Maritess A. Yong (MAY) Foundation recently broke ground for Bon-bon Resettlement Project Phase III, a housing project being conducted by the Silay City government and Habitat for Humanity Philippines Foundation, Inc.

The group hopes to create the Katuwang Community, which will be comprised of 86 houses and a community center.

“I hope this village will be a model community in Bacolod,” said MAY Foundation chair Micky Yong. “It is up to the home partners to ensure that this will uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and to make it a place which you will be proud to call home.”

The entire project, upon completion, will be comprised of 546 houses.

Last month, Habitat for Humanity broke ground at the same site for a disaster-resilient housing project, which will include 100 cement-bamboo framed housing units, or 50 duplex units, with a total estimated value of P45 million./WDJ
