Negros Occidental opens events with wins, scores gold in shot put

Negros Occidental opened their 2018 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) meet with wins in a variety of sports, along with picking up medals.

The Negros Occidental elementary football team opened their campaign with an 8-0 win over Aklan, while the secondary team beat Capiz, 4-0.

The Negros Occidental secondary girls’ volleyball team scored double victories, beating Guimaras, 25-16 and 25-12; and Antique, 25-12 and 25-17.

In addition, the Negros Occidental secondary boys 3×3 basketball team beat Iloilo, 21-9.

Meanwhile, Jamela de Asis of Himamaylan City won gold in the secondary girls shotput event. Negros Occidental’s Ann Katherine Quitoy took bronze in the same event./JSG, WDJ
