Over 160 Dumaguete City families displaced by storm

After Tropical Depression Basyang made landfall in Dumaguete City last Tuesday evening, forcing 161 families to evacuate, displaced city residents began returning home the following day as the storm moved out of the region.
According to the local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC), residents were preemptively evacuated in anticipation of the Banica River overflowing, resulting in over 600 individuals seeking shelter at barangay halls and schools across the city.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) substation in Bais City rescued two fishermen after it was reported their boat capsized near Manjuyod, which was said to have been on its way to Malabuyoc, Cebu.
A third fisherman remains missing.
