Duterte: Don’t believe too much in your religion

While welcoming recently repatriated workers from Kuwait at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, President Rodrigo Duterte said married couples should limit the number of children they have as a method of reducing poverty, suggesting the use of contraceptives in the process.
“Magpa-injection lang kayo or the pills (Get a contraception injection or use birth control pills),” he said.
The president explained his position by pointing out how the growing population is reducing the overall supply of resources.
“We have 100 million [people], that is why life is difficult,” he said. “If we only have 50 million, we can manage our food, enough for all, then there are jobs.”
“Don’t believe too much in your religion because that is also a hindrance,” the president added.
