Moises Padilla Mayor Magdaleno Peña yesterday urged other Negros Occidental mayors to participate in the campaign against the New People’s Army (NPA).
The mayor said he met with Department of National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and Bureau of Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña during the recent meeting between local officials and President Rodrigo Duterte in Cebu City earlier this week, where they discussed matters of the rebel group, which serves as an arm of the Communist Party of the Philippines and was declared by the Duterte administration as a terror organization.
Peña said he would encourage mayors from across the province to actively support the Armed Forces of the Philippines, in compliance with the president’s directive to eliminate the NPA and other terrorist organizations.
Duterte, meanwhile, yesterday said he is willing to pay P25,000 for every NPA member killed./DGB, WDJ
