The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) reported crime in the first week of February dropped by around 70 percent.
A total 25 criminal incidents were recorded between February 2 and 8, a drop from the 84 recorded during the same period last year.
ICPO operations chief, Police Superintendent Jowel Saliba, credited the drop to recently passed city ordinances, including the curfew for minors and the mandatory closure of certain establishments at 2:00 a.m.
Authorities also reported a drop in non-index crimes, which includes illegal gambling and illegal drugs, with figures falling from 46 to 14. During that period, two buy-bust operations were conducted, where five people were arrested and 20 sachets of shabu were confiscated.
“ICPO will continue to make Iloilo City peaceful and livable,” Saliba affirmed./PLL, WDJ
