Jose Mari Chan to be formally conferred as honorary mayor today

Singer-songwriter Jose Mari Chan will be in Bacolod City today, February 16, for his formal conferment as honorary Bacolod City mayor, a designation made earlier this month by Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, as part of the annual Bacolaodiat Festival.
Chan, who also serves as chairman and CEO of the Binalbagan Isabela Sugar Company, Inc. (BISCOM) and the A. Chan Sugar Corporation, is scheduled to arrive at the Bacolod City Government Center this afternoon, where he will be welcomed by the mayor, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, Bacolod City Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya, and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP).
A special SP session will also be held to formally declare him an “adopted son” of Bacolod City, a designation given after a resolution was passed at the end of last month.
The festival is scheduled to run until Sunday, February 18./DGB, WDJ
