Ceres FC prepares for Home United

By Jerome S. Galunan, Jr.

Following their 9-0 romp over Cambodian League champions Boeung Ket Angkor FC last Tuesday, Ceres-Negros FC turns their focus on Singapore’s Home United FC, who they face next in the 2018 AFC Cup on February 27 at the Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore.

Ceres defeated Home United last year to win the AFC Cup ASEAN Zonal championship.

“It’s not an easy game, we have to prepare well,” Ceres coach Risto Vidaković said of their opponents. “We will go there and fight.”

In response to their big win over the Cambodian champions, the coach said, “I’m OK with a 5-0, but the 9-0 result was a huge surprise.”

“This is just the beginning,” he added.

“We’re no longer the underdogs in this tournament,” noted midfielder Stephan Schröck. “Everybody is looking up at us, so we have to prepare well – like we always do.”

Ceres is scheduled to leave for Singapore on February 25./JSG, WDJ
