Around 202 couples tied the knot after Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia led the “Kasalan ng Bayan,” or mass wedding, at the Bacolod City Government Center, yesterday morning.

Leonardia officiated the event, which was also attended by officials from the Philippine Statistics Authority and members of the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP).

In his message to the newly-weds, he said they should prioritize establishing a family, calling it the “basic unit in society.”

The mayor said it would improve, not just the city, but the whole country.

“If our families are strong, the city of Bacolod becomes strong, too,” he said./DGB, WDJ
