Team Philippines begins competing on Friday

The two athletes competing for the Philippines in the ongoing 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea will be competing in their respective competitions in a matter of days, Asa Miller in men’s alpine skiing and Michael Martinez in men’s figure skating.
For Martinez, the men’s short program will take place on Friday, February 16, where a total 30 competitors will gather at the Gangneung Ice Arena. The free skate, which determines the medalists in the event, takes place at the same venue the following day.
Miller will be competing in the men’s giant slalom, with the first run taking place Sunday morning, February 18, at the Yongpyong Alpine Centre. That afternoon, the second run, which will determine the final winners, takes place at the same venue.
2018 marks the first Olympic appearance for Miller, while Martinez earlier competed in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia, where he finished 19th overall. Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan won the gold medal that year./PLL, WDJ
