Former Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella yesterday said he is considering filing a complaint before the Office of the President regarding a Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) flood control project along Circumferential Road in Barangay Villamonte, which he believes to be “questionable.”
“It is a perfectly good road, why would you destroy it?” he asked.
He said, despite the middle portion of the road being in “perfect condition for motorists to use,” DPWH destroyed it as part of an “ongoing flood control project.” The former mayor questioned, with a flood control system typically constructed along the side of the road, why would the government agency rip up the middle of the road?
Puentevella believes the matter is “pure corruption” and said he would also be filing a complaint against Bacolod City lone district Rep. Greg Gasataya, along with other city government officials, for “making a mockery of the city’s traffic system,” as the construction has created massive traffic tie-ups in the area.
He added, the complaint will be filed once his legal team studies all possible charges associated with the case./DGB, WDJ
