By Jerome S. Galunan, Jr.
During a press conference ahead of tonight’s 2018 AFC Cup group stage match against Cambodian League champions Boeung Ket Angkor FC, set to take place at the Panaad Park and Stadium at 7:30 p.m., Ceres-Negros FC coach Risto Vidaković emphasized the significance of the competition.
“This AFC Cup is more important,” he said. “This game is more important than Brisbane, Tianjin, and all the games we played in the Champions League.”
The coach also expressed assurance in the Negrense squad’s capabilities, adding, “I’m confident that their work ethic and team effort will carry them to the next phase.”
Meanwhile, the Cambodian side’s coach Keo Kosal discussed their determination, “We will just try our best.”
Aside from the Cambodian club, Ceres is also drawn in Group G with Singapore’s Home United FC, whom Ceres defeated to win the zonal championship last year; along with Myanmar National League champions Shan United, whom they beat in the Champions League qualifying play-offs last month./JSG, WDJ
