A female fast food worker escaped an attempted rape Monday evening while using the raised crosswalk along Lacson Street in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.
Based on information provided by Christian Lamasan, the owner of the boarding house where the unnamed 18-year-old victim resides, she was returning home when she was assaulted by two men.
One of the assailants was reportedly only wearing an underwear, while the other tried unbuttoning the victim’s shirt. However, the victim managed to fight back, striking one of the attackers in the groin, forcing them to let her go.
According to Lamasan, the victim has since returned home to Victorias City and ceased employment with the fast food chain, citing trauma from the incident.
As of press time, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) said they have not received any reports pertaining to the incident and are still checking records from Police Station 3.
Without the victim filing a report, law enforcement is unable to conduct an investigation./DGB, WDJ
