The Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) recently revealed a second kidney transplant was successful conducted by hospital physicians earlier this week.

The procedure to provide the 24-year-old male patient with a new kidney lasted four hours.

Meanwhile, last August, a 39-year-old male patient was the recipient of the first kidney transplant performed by the hospital.

“Through a good donor recruitment program, we hope to line up more patients,” said CLMMRH chief, Dr. Julius Drilon.

In September 2016, (CLMMRH) opened its P38 million state of the art facility for kidney stone treatment.

The facility houses the Storz Medical machine, the first in the Visayas, that uses sound waves to pulverize kidney stones; the procedure takes around two hours, including a recovery period following sedation.

“This is a modern way of treating patients in a manner with less intervention and other modalities,” Drilon explained. “No surgery needed.”/PLL, WDJ
