Open government is necessary for growth, effective governance –USAID official

During the recent Open Government and Participatory Governance Regional Dialogue at the SMX Convention Center at SM City Bacolod, United States Agency for International Development- Philippines (USAID-Philippines) Deputy Director for Economic Development Jenna Diallo discussed the benefits of an “open government.”
“To promote [a] government that works for its citizens is crucial in advancing toward our mutually shared goals of inclusive growth and effective governance,” she said.
Diallo offered examples of products of open government, including Freedom of Information (FOI), the citizen’s complaints hotline 8888, the Office of Participatory Governance, among others.
The United States and the Philippines are founding members of the open government partnership, which was established in 2011./WDJ
