After the Negros Oriental Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a series of earthquakes in Valencia recently, the agency said the occurrence needs to be validated in order to determine the cause.
According to Phivolcs Seismic Station officer-in-charge Jose Molas, a total 28 earthquakes were recorded in the town last week between 8:00 a.m on Thursday to 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
He would not comment on the possibility of a fault line in the area but noted, Mt. Talinis, a volcano located in Valencia, is considered to be inactive.
The highest magnitude tremor experienced in recent days was a 4.7-magnitude quake late last month, on January 27./PLL, WDJ
