The traffic enforcer seen in the viral video showing a pickpocketing incident at Bangga Ramos, along Lacson Street in Bacolod City, was summoned by the head of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) yesterday.
BTAO head, Police Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, identified the enforcer in the video as Pio Puentevella.
According to Acebuche, Puentevella, as a “person of authority,”  failed to arrest the alleged thief on the spot.
Due to the incident, Acebuche said Puentevella may face administrative charges if their investigation reveals he neglected his duty, resulting in the thief’s escape.
Earlier this week, a video posted by Arthur Mendoza went viral after it showed an alleged pickpocket victimizing a senior citizen inside a Bata-Libertad jeepney.
The suspect, who currently remains unidentified, failed in the attempt after the victim spotted the wallet in the latter’s possession.
Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) spokesperson, Police Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, said police operatives are currently hunting down the suspect to prevent her from victimizing more people.
Vargas added the suspect is a newly-identified thief, as she did not show up on the rogue galleries list of Police Stations 2 and 3./DGB, WDJ
