President Rodrigo Duterte is scheduled to meet with governors and mayors from the Visayas and Mindanao on February 12 at the Radisson Blu in Cebu City.
According to a memorandum from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the general program includes a conference with DILG officials, speeches by the president and the DILG Officer-in-Charge Catalino Cuy, and a photo opportunity.
In addition, participants must come in person and are prohibited from sending representatives.
Last month, Duterte said his meetings with local officials across the country are “highly confidential.”
Upon receiving notice of the meeting with the president, Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday announced the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) mass wedding on February 12 will be rescheduled for the following day, February 13.
The mayor is scheduled to return from Cebu the following morning, in time for the rescheduled event.
The event typically occurs on Valentine’s Day, which is February 14; however, since February 14 this year is Ash Wednesday, the mass wedding was moved./NC, WDJ
