MIAA Official: Reputations are at stake

Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) officials recently called on the public to refrain from airing their grievances about the airport on social media and to instead report the matter with airport authorities.
“In the end, our country and our Filipino people’s reputation are at stake,” said Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal.
He noted, in terms of matters pertaining to lost or damaged luggage, passengers should file complaints directly with the airline, claiming airlines will investigate and matter and reply to the passenger “as soon as possible.”
The MIAA chief added, airlines follow the international convention for air passenger rights.
As of last year, NAIA moved out of the 20 worst airports in the world list, along with escaping the five worst airports in Asia rankings; however, the airport has garnered a reputation after landing on the “worst” lists for several years prior, including being named “World’s Worst Airport” from 2011 to 2013.
In addition, the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte recently announced they would not be renewing a government contract with baggage handling firm Miascor Groundhandling Corporation, which used to operate at NAIA and Clark International Airport, following several reported incidents of luggage theft./PLL, WDJ
