The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) recently passed an ordinance establishing the Healthiest Canteen Award.

The ordinance, authored by City Councilor Em Ang, will have local canteens recognized for their adherence to guidelines on providing healthier food for public school students.

“The city shall motivate all public school canteens in its jurisdiction to serve, provide or sell only clean, safe and nutritious food and food products, by giving an award to those who are most compliant,” the legislation read.

The awarding day is scheduled for the last Monday of June, which is National Nutrition Month.
