Bacolod City Councilor Caesar Distrito called on the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) to be consistent in the implementation of traffic rules and regulations.
Distrito, who chairs the committee on appropriations and finance, said members of BTAO should be seen on the streets, whether it is a holiday or not.
He urged BTAO to be strict with the rules especially at night, when most vehicular accidents occur.
“If they will be strict on that, I don’t think traffic will happen,” he said.
Aside from being strict and consistent, Distrito also reminded traffic enforcers to be courteous and considerate, especially when explaining violations.
He added, they have already informed BTAO head, Police Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, regarding concerns over enforcer visibility in the downtown area.
Acebuche, however, said personnel are still undergoing evaluations.
Meanwhile, Distrito also hopes the “tanod ordinance” will be signed by Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia, which will permit barangay tanods to help in the implementation of traffic rules./NC, WDJ
