Around 40 families are requesting the assistance of the Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) with regard to a land dispute over “right of way,” which refers to a portion of land that allows a person to pass through another’s property.
The families live on a piece of land at Purok Makawiwili in Barangay Punta Taytay that was conditionally donated to the barangay by the Rojas family in 2004, but was later sold to the church after improvements were made to the area.
City Councilor Renecito Novero suggested the complainants discuss the matter with the individual who donated the land.
In addition, the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office considers the land as part of a “danger zone,” which means it cannot be zoned for residential areas.
Novero suggested the relocation site at Bayanihan II, which is in the same barangay./NC, WDJ
