The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) recently approved a resolution endorsing HB 6768, or the Universities and Colleges Mental Health Act of 2016, which was authored by Bacolod Lone District Rep. Greg Gasataya.

The resolution, authored by City Councilor Sonya Verdeflor, supports the bill which intends to address the mental, emotional, and developmental needs of students.

The bill suggests all state universities and colleges should provide a minimum of three psychiatrists and other mental health professionals to attend to students.

According to the Department of Health, 30 out of 90 affected students seek medical help, while the other 60 are “too ashamed” to seek assistance./NC, WDJ
