The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Region VI (DSWD-6) will release nearly P3.5 million in pensions for low-income Iloilo City senior citizens starting tomorrow, January 23.

771 city seniors are expected to each receive P4,500 in social pensions.

“If there are still indigent senior citizens who have not availed of the social pension and have no support from their children, I encourage them to apply,” said Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III. “DSWD Regional Director Rebecca Geamala promised that she is willing to give more support to Iloilo City Government for the benefit of senior citizens.”

Distributions are expected to continue throughout the Dinagyang Festival, which closes near the end of the month./WDJ
