Despite the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) currently dealing with contractual issues with the Bacolod Bulk Water, Inc. (BBWI), BBWI Chairman Ryan Yapkianwee yesterday affirmed they would continue delivery services despite not receiving payment from Baciwa.
He noted, BBWI will shoulder all expenses for the time being.
“We intend to keep our momentum going,” the chairman said.
Baciwa and BBWI, a special purpose company composed of several consortiums, finalized a 25-year bulk water supply contract in March 2016. According to the contract, the water supply must flow through the Baciwa reservoir before being distributed throughout the city, however, the supplier was earlier encountering problems negotiating with individuals who owned lands where pipes were being laid.
Last September, Baciwa general manager, Atty. Juliana Carbon, submitted contract amendments before the Office of the Government Corporate Counsel (OGCC), which were later approved.
“We will abide by whatever they decide on,” Yapkianwee noted.
Meanwhile, the BBWI chairman said a second injection point in Murcia will be constructed, which is expected to increase the volume of water delivered to Baciwa./NC, WDJ
