After requesting members of law enforcement improve services in light of the recent pay raise granted by President Rodrigo Duterte, Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. reiterated the call to members of the Negros Occidental Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
During a recent courtesy call on the governor by members of the BFP, Marañon also urged them to “unite and cooperate.”
Earlier this week, he made a similar appeal to police officers, including a call for police to never engage in illegal activity and to “do what is right,” with the Philippine National Police (PNP) returning to the frontlines of the war on illegal drugs.
Last week, Duterte signed the joint resolution of Congress approving a pay increase for members of the military and uniformed law enforcement.
According to the resolution, the pay increase was justified as their work involves the “critical role in maintaining national security and peace and order, taking into consideration their exposure to high-risk environments in the performance of their duties.”/PLL, WDJ
