The Iloilo City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) recently provided assistance to the 14 victims of a fire that struck Zone 1, Barangay Cubay, located in the Jaro district of Iloilo City.

Victims whose homes were totally destroyed received P5,000, while those experiencing partial damage were provided with P2,500.

In addition, the CSWDO also distributed sacks of rice and canned goods.

Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa III, who was present at the event, which took place at the City Hall, advised those gathered to be cautious when using electrical appliances.

“When you buy your appliances, make sure that the quality is good,” he said.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection, the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit./WDJ
