A representative from the business development division of Ayala Land, Inc. recently confirmed the Ayala Mall Capitol Central, located at San Juan Street-South Capitol Road, has a tentative opening date around October 2018, in time for this year’s MassKara Festival.
Ayala representative Gerald S. Wong revealed the expected opening period, also noting the company will pay all liabilities it owes to Bacolod City.
The company is responsible for real property taxes from the point their contract was signed with the provincial government, however, the property was not formally turned over until the following year.
According to City Treasurer Giovanni Balalilhi, Ayala owes the city P7 million.
The City Legal Office is currently deliberating the matter.
Last November, two construction workers died after a portion of the mall collapsed.
Based on reports by Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6), workers Doddy Boy Mallorca and Heracleo Abraham were pouring cement on the sixth floor when the scaffolding and beams collapsed./PLL, WDJ
