Recently-installed Philippine Army 3rd Infantry Division (3ID) commander, Brigadier General Dino Dolina, yesterday revealed during a courtesy call on Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr., Negros is still among the priority locations for the clearing of insurgents, which includes the New People’s Army (NPA).
“We have firmed up plans about [what] to do about the mass base of the rebels,” he explained. “We have known [about] their plans and intentions and we have our plans to curb [their] plans.”
Dolina said they are also considering increasing troop deployment across the island.
He said they are also coordinating with local government units across the Central and Western Visayas, adding he had paid courtesy calls on the governors of Bohol and Cebu last week./DGB, WDJ
