The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) recently reported earthquakes at Mt. Kanlaon have reduced, however, they affirmed the ‘Alert level 2’ status remains in place.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the volcano is still seen as having an “increase in temperature and inflation or swelling of the edifice.”
The agency also advised the public to always keep away from the four-kilometer permanent danger zone.
Phivolcs added, sudden and hazardous erratic eruptions may still occur./JJA, WDJ
