After the recent series of storms reportedly impacted over 12,000 farmers throughout the Western Visayas, the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) for Region VI revealed P76 million has been allotted for local farmers.
“We have already deployed adjusters on the field to assess the reported damages of the farmers,” said PCIC Regional Manager Eva Ulie Laud.
According to Laud, 11,054 hectares of land were damaged by storms Urduja, Vinta, and Agaton, affecting 12,600 farmers.
She noted, average compensation is P6,500 per hectare.
Last week, the Capiz Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) announced P10.9 million had been designated to assist local farmers.
Following Tropical Depression Agaton, 159 of the province’s 473 barangays reported flooding./PLL, WDJ
