Sagay North Negros beats La Salle FC, captures title

The Sagay North Negros football team recently defeated defending champions Ceres La Salle FC, 2-0, to win the 2nd Sagay Men’s Open Championships at Sagay National High School.

After a scoreless first half, Jimuel Ariola opened scoring in the 48th minute, which was shortly followed by a goal from Clifford Tecson in the 52nd minute.

Ariola was named ‘Most Valuable Player’ and ‘Best Striker;’ while teammates Leoben Wayco took home ‘Best Keeper,’ Lemuel Unabia won ‘Best Defender,’ and Arnel Marcellana was named ‘Best Midfielder.’

Following the close of the competition, Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon III said, “I expect a bigger event next year.”/JSG, WDJ
